The Book Thief Book Club #2

Question One

"Hans Huberman?"

Question Two

"Do you still play the accordion?"

When Max first enters the house I thought he would collapse and start crying. But instead he asks a question that I didn't expect. Did you expect it? I wondered if Max remembered how to play the little parts he learned on the accordion. the question was a good hook for the part.

Book Thief Book Club

If her mother loved her, why leave her on someone else's doorstep? Why? Why? Why?

As it says in the book Liesel knows why. Her mother was constantly sick and there was no money to fix her. I feel that this question will be stated throughout the book. It made me think about if her mother will die and her only family will be the Hubermanns and maybe her dad. then this makes me wonder who her dad is and why he left them. Questions that lead to more questions.

LWW Chapter 7 A Day With the Beavers

Chapter 7 A Day With The Beavers               6

In chapter 7, A Day With The Beavers, the children, Edmund, Peter, Lucy, and Susan, find a beaver and follow  him.  On the way to Mr. Beaver's home, Mr. Beaver mentions Aslan. Peter, Susan, and Lucy get a feeling of joy, happiness, braveness, and adventurousness but Edmund feels a mysterious horror. Finally they get to Mr. Beaver's house where Mrs. Beaver is cooking a marvelous dinner and greets the children with her arms held out to them.

Rachmaninoff: Prelude in C-sharp is the music I thought went with the chapter when the children hear Aslan's name, a mix of horror and peace.

The Hobbit

The Hobbit

By J.R.R Tolkien

The dragon guarding the gold.

A Hobbit named Biblo goes off on an adventurous journey with dwarves and a magician to find gold guarded by a dragon, when Biblo is not at all adventurous. Then Biblo finds a ring that can turn you invisible if you put it on, by wandering into goblin tunnels alone. In the end Biblo gets to go back to his hobbit hole where he has been longing to go back to since the begining of the trip.

It is weird how the hobbit, Biblo, changes from non-adventurous to loving adventure over the course of the story. He changes in many ways and learns different things in the story, READ IT to find out more about Biblo, the dwarves, the magician, and all of their adventures.
I'm off on an adventure!

This music sounds like Biblo would be leaving his hobbit hole or the mountain where he stayed so long.

Silence!

Silence! A silent world would be in a desert in the middle of nowhere. It would have tumbleweeds but with no sound effects like they do in movies. The desert would be full of red sand and would be really flat. I would HATE it!

What I'm Reading

I'm reading The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. I've read it before so I know it is good but it is like Magician's Nephew every time you read it is good and you get the surprises, sadness, funniness, etc. every time. It's a great book so far.

Order Of Operations

I don't think order of operations is useful unless you go into a career like an engineer, accountant, or rocket scientist.  You know when something isn't useful when your teacher can't find an everyday explanation besides doing it for a job or school. Order of operations is not useful unless you have an algebraic expression which aren't very useful either.

My question is how would you use this for a job. Let me ask my dad, who is a CPA(Certified Public Accountant), how he uses algebraic expressions which tie into order of operations. My dad said that he uses algebraic expressions everyday. He needs to find how much his clients need to pay the government for taxes. He would have three numbers and need six so, he would solve for the variables by using algebraic expressions. My dad says that in his job algebraic expressions are super useful.

OWW!!!!!!!

On Friday I broke the nail off of my finger. How did it happen? Dalton, Grace and I were playing on the slide at my house. Dalton was on top of the slide holding on to a bar. My hand was on a post right under the bar. Crack! The bar broke and Dalton was still holding on. My nail got stuck in one of the cracks. I screamed at Dalton to let go. He did. I ripped my nail out of the crack. My nail was barley hanging on. I screamed at Dalton and Grace to get my mom. I swiftly walked to the house. I went to the sink with my mom. She cut it of where it was still attached. It hurt so much I was a second from passing out! I was literaly white as flour and my vision blurred. I laid down on the couch. Then I went to urgent care where i had to soak my finger in soapy water then put antibiotic ointment on it then they wrapped it. Then I got some pain killer and that helped a lot. Now my finger just stings.

Lost!

I'm lost! If i was lost in the woods and only could choose one human character from Magician's Nephew I would choose the Cabby. He is a country man and knows how to grow food. The Cabby says that he is a country man. Aslan asks the Cabby if he could grow crops the Cabby says he can. Having someone who knows how to grow food would be extremely helpful. Also, a country man would probably know how to handle problems well, and the Cabby displays this. One example, that the Cabby can handle problems well because when he got transferred to a different world he was very optimistic and calm about it. The Cabby would be great to have if I was lost in the woods.

Olden Day Punishments

In the olden days some people got switched, hit hard with a stick in the buttox, whipped by a belt hard, or got their mouth washed out with soap. If you talked passed notes or even laughed you would get switched. When you got whipped by a belt it was usually at home. When you got your mouth washed out with soap you probably talked back or said a bad word. In the olden days you got harsh punishment   if you acted badly.

9.11

My Uncle John was in New York when the towers fell. He was going to fly out that night but he had to get a hotel room. He had to share the room with strangers that were stuck in New York too. Across the street was roped off part where all the debris was. He was lucky to have his business meeting not in the Twin Towers.

Chapter 8 Readers Response

There was a noise a beatiful noise. I couldn't find which direction it came from. Then came the stars. They didn't appear one by one as you would think but the came all at one time. It sounded like the stars were singing. The voices were in harmoney. The stars voices faded away. The sky near the horizon turned gray and there was a breeze. With they skylight I could see the outlines of the hills and then each others faces. The Voice grew higher and higher and a sun rose. I could see that this sun was a really young sun. I could now see everything a river, mountains, and hills. There were no plants no bushes, grass, or even trees. Then I saw the Voice it was a lion.
